Happy New Year everybody and what an  exciting time to be part of the Stars Football family! Our boarding school kids from across the globe will soon be returning to these shores to continue their football and academic education under the tutelage of some of the best teachers and coaches in the country.

Our own Maidstone FC Academy boys are chomping at the bit to get back in the action later this week and there are some new faces who will be joining to prove themselves and enjoy the full package of education and full time professional Football Academy at Stars Football.

One of the boys due to join us later this month is the Ghanaian u17 World Cup star Najeeb Yakubu. You can see him above enjoying some family time over the festive break before he embarks on his big adventure to the UK and Europe. We feel Najeeb has a great and real chance of forging a career in World Football when he has completed his Education and acclimatisation with us.

Najeeb brings a wealth of experience at youth international level and most recently played a starring role for Ghana at the U17 World Cup in India. Having already been a finalist in the youth version of the African Cup of Nations this Boy has real talent, his defensive unit has only conceded 4 goals in their last 11 competitive matches! Some say he is the best up and coming defender in world football … so watch this space.

We couldn’t be more excited to see Najeeb here but are also aware that the boys that come to the UK and Europe for their football and Education also leave behind families who can often have big expectations for the child. First and foremost our role is to protect these boys, manage their own and their families expectations and plan their academic and football education. We help them acclimatise to Europe and provide a dual pathway to potential success either in football or at university.

Any boy that joins us will be nurtured and developed to achieve their personal potential – be that ultimately as a soccer professional or in another professional field as life, talent and health dictates.

We all know the odds of success are very small for any player to make it to the top echelons of world football. This is a competitive business. So we wish everybody luck, teach them what they need to know and prepare them for whatever the future brings.

We look forward to seeing you soon Najeeb and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.
