Training and FA Evaluations

At Stars Football we take great pride in the experience and abilities of our coaching team. One of the secrets of our players success is the training delivered to them because of the skills and attainments of the coaching personnel. Daryl Willard is our UEFA PRO qualified Director of Football and Head Coach, this is the highest coaching qualification available in the world game. What this means is he is qualified to sufficiently high level he would not be required to take further tests or qualifications to manage a Premier League team!

However he does not rest on his laurels and constantly looks to increase his knowledge and develop as a coach, as a developer of youth talent and as a man manager. To this end he undergoes regular training courses and evaluations from external coaches and the FA. This week as part of his current work as a youth coach he will be evaluated on site in a training session by the English FA.

He has spent the last year undertaking various youth training modules and has coached a youth team at Crystal Palace academy under evaluation as one aspect of this process so far. He welcomes the opportunity to look at the game from new angles and to immerse himself in the latest thought processes and discussions with other coaches.

Our belief is that all members of our team must continually innovate to keep their methods and abilities current and relevant. We are pleased to announce Alex McCarthy is also taking his UEFA B qualification this year and was evaluated today by the Sussex FA as part of his appraisal and qualification.

This process of continual personal development is the cornerstone of our philosophy at Stars Football Academy and means we are at the forefront of modern football thinking.

Even our students all take their FA Level 1 coaching badge in their first year at Stars Football and we regularly undertake technical classroom sessions where the boys need to think like the coach and evaluate training and match performances of themselves and others objectively.

We believe strongly that immersion in football conversation leads to football improvement as players and coaches and at Stars Football Academy the coaches start that conversation every day.

Success from the Solomon Islands!

We are so happy to have welcomed our friends from the Solomon Islands, New Zealand and Australia this past two weeks. I was delighted to be presented with my gift from the leader of the academy boys from the Solomon Islands Joel.

There has been an excellent standard of football and as a result three boys will be staying with us for the full six months permitted by their visas.

They will join our full time program from this week and be with us through until March next year. It’s exciting times as the campus grows ever busier and the talent bar raises up another notch.

Kanu Game A Huge Success for Heart Charity

What a day!

Thirty of us travelled to watch the Kanu legends match at Barnet. Held to raise money for his namesake heart charity the Kanu Nwankwo Heart Foundation Our boys watched on as some of the greatest Premier League players to grass the hallowed turfs of England’s greatest clubs took to the field.

Lauren, Essien, Brown, PIRES! KANU!!

Boy did they get to some class! There were about a million goals and a giant pitch invasion at the end. It was a great day.

After the match the boys had an opportunity to get signatures and almost got to shake hands with the great Arsene Wenger until he saw how many of us were waiting at the changing room doors and hot tailed it through the VIP section to his car!
